Salt & Pepper Granite Worktops

Kingswood is more or less on our doorstep – just the other side of the M25 – and we do frequent installations in the pleasant residential but very countrified roads of Kingswood, Tadworth and Chipstead. For their kitchen, the Dons chose very contemporary black gloss units, with our speckled grey Salt and Pepper granite to finish the kitchen off perfectly.

We were pleased with the result; more importantly so were the Dons themselves and Mrs Don was kind enough to comment on the installation:

The black and white of the granite pulls together the black of the units and the stainless steel of the appliances – in this case the Kenwood range cooker.	The granite window sill is below the standard upstand height, we have therefore fitted the sill over a low upstand, with small upstands going into the reveal.


Dark grey top-mounted sink from Wickes. Until recently top-mounted sinks were not commonplace on granite worktops, but the more exciting designs and colours now available at reasonable prices have given the traditional sit-on sink a new lease of life as a very practical feature in a granite or quartz kitchen.


Big islands and peninsulars really bring the Wow factor into a kitchen, together with the practicality of a breakfast bar area. Curved corners are stylish and safe.	The slightly creamy paintwork, together with other coloured elements of the room, stops the monochrome look from being too cool or sterile. The overall effect is stylish, clean and practical.
